A delegation of University of Leeds led by Prof. Hai Sui Yu, Deputy Vice Chancellor International visited Department of Science, Technology & Environment on 25.09.2019. for a meeting with Sh. R.K. Verma, IAS, Principal Secretary, STE, Punjab.
DSTE held deliberations with visiting delegation of University of Leeds to explore collaboration in Research and Innovation for its Mission Innovate Punjab and Mission Tandrust Punjab along with Punjab based Research Institutions like IIT Ropar, PGIMER, IISER, NIPER, IMTECH, NABI and INST.
The objectives of the two missions are to develop a robust research and innovation ecosystem as well as make Punjab the healthiest state. The two missions are being implemented with Govt. Departments, industries and research institutes/universities and innovators, high-tech researchers, business leaders, entrepreneurs and foreign experts/delegations are also being engaged to foster deep partnerships for steering research and innovation.
The Leed’s University elaborated the work undertaken in the field of research, innovation, engineering, applied health, energy and medicine.
The broad areas discussed for possible collaboration under the two Missions include: ‘Life Sciences, public health and Food; Environment & Climate Change; Management of solid-waste and plastic waste; Innovative solution for paddy straw management; Industry 4.0 and industrial pollution control and management’.
The Department also invited the delegation to the forthcoming ‘Punjab Innovation and Technology Summit’ being organized by DSTE on 5th Nov. 2019 at The Lalit, Chandigarh.
