The Department of Environment
is implementing and monitoring the execution of action plans within
the state.
All the Stakeholder
departments like Department of Industries & Commerce, Local
Government, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Public Works Department,
Department of Transport, Department of Food Civil Supplies and
Consumer Affairs, Traffic Police, Housing & Urban Development
Department, Department of Transport and Department of Agriculture of
Government of Punjab, are being actively involved at every stage for
implementation of Action Plans. Effective monitoring of various
activities of the Action Plan for Clean Air is the key element to
achieve the outcomes under the Action Plans.
Governance
A
well-organized Governance Mechanism has been formed at three levels
to
monitor & review the implementation of Action Plans,
supervision of progress, coordination of various activities, required
corrective measures and fixing of accountability.
Committees
at the District level under Deputy Commissioner, State Level Air
Quality Monitoring Committee (AQMC) under Principal Secretary and
Environment & State Apex committee (SAC) under Chief Secretary
have been formed to monitor the progress for which regular meetings
are being held at all levels.
